Ain't That a Grand and Glorious Feeling—LM! Devlog #2

TL;DR: OUR DEMO IS LIVE!

Thank you so much for your time, you can stop reading it here.

...

If you're more curious, then allow me to talk about our future short term & long term plans hehe.

As of right now, our demo needs a little bit of polish—a few lines tweaked, a sound clip here and there. There's a few other things I'm trying to focus on right now:

  • (Slight) MC sprite customisation. Our intention was for Gilda to always have her hair dyed, and the colour to be a player choice. Be the change you want to see in the world, etc etc.
  • Sprite expressions. Time was not on our side, but hopefully we'll be able to push these out with our next update!
  • In-game dictionary. Part of what we wanted to really dig into with the writing of this game was some choice 1920s/early 1930s slang. Some of it is easy to understand with context, but sometimes you really wanna know what 'slimp' actually means! In addition to that, the dictionary can provide some context clues to the incidents and events mentioned in the game. What does it mean when Angelo says that Gilda was 'talking about Harding' with the magistrate? Just a casual political scandal of national importance that got eclipsed by the Watergate scandal, ha! Y'know, we aren't trying to be educational, but sometimes context is nice.

I, too, need the liquid courage, Gilda!

Beyond all of this comes the actual game, and the intimidating prospect of writing routes (I'm shuddering already). With that being said, they are all currently in the process of being outlined. We plan to release the full game all at once, rather than route-by-route or in an episodic format. The wait will be long, but please be rest assured that some of our team (well, I can't speak for all of them but me, at the very least) really do enjoy working with this little universe we have created. Expect more content in the interim and general, tiny updates either on  my Twitter (you will get memes and absolutely irrelevant factoids, at the very least) or by keeping up with the #lmvn hashtag (when I remember to update it. er.)

That's it from me today, over and out!

P.S.: did you know that all our devlog titles are actually just popular songs from the 20s? Of course they are—you can never have too much of a good thing
