Gaudy Night — Devlog #1
“Do you find it easy to get drunk on words?"
"So easy that, to tell you the truth, I am seldom perfectly sober.”
— Gaudy Night by Dorothy L. Sayers (1935).
To thank the heavens for the written word would be an understatement. How else could we express ourselves so succinctly, so eloquently, so—humanly?
Right now, I am filled with gratitude, and only the written word could get all of it out of me, I reckon. I am thankful for so many things right now:
for the friend who heard my idea and said 'let's make it happen',
for the friends who offered their help even before I asked and for the new friends we made through this Jam journey,
for the team members who began to love the characters as much as I did,
for
for the medical staff who worked hard to keep my father alive as he suffered with post-heart attack complications,
for the nurse who helped me get comfortable with my laptop in the ICU ward this weekend, as the team chatted via Discord to help bring everything together at the last minute,
for everyone who checked in during this time with words of concern and love,
for anyone reading this right now! thank you, thank you very much!
We have managed to accomplish most of everything we had set out to do at the beginning of this Jam but, as we continued along, we realized that there was just a little bit more we wanted to see and add. It's the opposite of scope knife: I was determined to keep this a one-shot, a one-off, but fate had other ideas
Expect the following within an August update:
- The addition of an epilogue! One of the limitations of two characters that love slow-burn in a jam game is that we have to draw the line in their story far too early. Therefore, we thought it would be nice to add a continuation for the romance end.
- CGs! We plan to add at least 3 CGs into the game.
- Sprite adjustments (mainly for Julian)
- Partial VA for Piper and Julian...and maybe the others?
That's all for now! We will be back shortly with more information on this game.
Love,
